DES MOINES – New reporting from KCRG today put on full display that Ashley Hinson, down eight points in the latest poll, is refusing to answer questions from local press about her support for the largest Medicaid cuts in history and her attempt to hide her seven votes to continue the war in Iran.
The report called Hinson’s seventh vote last week to continue the war in Iran and her desperate statements calling for an immediate end to the war, a “strategy shift” that “comes as a new Marist University poll this week shows Hinson trailing Democrat Josh Turek by eight points.” The report also highlighted that Hinson visited a healthcare clinic where Hinson’s votes in Washington “could cost [the] center more than $1 million in funding,” with the CEO adding that he has “big concerns.”
When KCRG asked Hinson for an interview to discuss her vote, they reported she “refused.”
Key Context: Last week, Hinson cast her seventh vote to continue the war in Iran as it devastates Iowa with “record diesel prices,” “surg[ing]” gas costs, fertilizer prices “near peak levels,” and inflation higher than the national average. She has repeatedly defended the war in Iran and downplayed the impact on Iowans, despite admitting in private that it’s becoming a “political liability.” She has raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Oil, and now those companies are seeing record profits up to $14 billion from the Iran war.
