Questions Mount Over Who’s Paying Zach Lahn’s Running Mate’s Debt
DES MOINES – The Lahn-Wulf ticket’s pattern of refusing to answer Iowans’ questions continues. Now, even more questions are mounting after Lahn refused to say who is paying off his running mate Derek Wulf’s $900,000 in debts and legal bills.
When a conservative voter asked Wulf about his finances, Wulf refused to give a straight answer and called himself “fortunate.” But Wulf “doesn’t have the assets to refinance or secure [a] bridge loan” and was only able to settle his debts after joining Lahn’s ticket — “immediately after his political star rose.”
Instead of being transparent with Iowans, Lahn’s campaign is refusing to answer simple questions “about how Wulf has been able to turn around his financial situation and whether his position on the gubernatorial ticket has helped him to secure assistance from [Lahn’s] campaign or its supporters to pay down his debts or secure loans.”
Iowans deserve to know: Who made Derek Wulf’s massive debt bailout possible, and why were they willing to loan Wulf hundreds of thousands of dollars? Did Wulf’s place on the ticket play any role in securing the loan?

Who is bankrolling Lahn’s running mate, what do they expect in return, and why is Lahn so determined to keep it a secret? If Lahn and Wulf can’t answer these questions, they have no business running to lead our state.”
