What They’re Saying: “Ashley Hinson Says She Feels Americans’ Financial Pain Despite Being a Millionaire”
Nathan Sage: “All [Ashley Hinson’s] Been Doing This Whole Time That [She’s] Been in Congress […] is Taking Money From People to Make Sure That [She] Continues to Have Money for [Her] Family and [Her] Friends While Everybody Else Across the State Struggles.”
DES MOINES – Iowans continue to call out Ashley Hinson after a report from the Daily Mail last week revealed that Hinson has been disingenuously cosplaying as a “working-class mom” despite being a multi-millionaire, “living in a luxury DC apartment” that has cost taxpayers more than $50,000, and taking lavish international trips paid for by special interest groups.
Read What They’re Saying About Ashley Hinson’s Corrupt Self-Dealing:
- “[Ashley Hinson] thought it would be a great idea to try to relate the average Joe to tell them she knows what families are facing. […] What I do know is that the folks at MeidasTouch point out that according to her recent financial disclosures Hinson’s net worth has increased by up to $7 million while she has been in office thanks to her husband’s ownership of individual stock in his private company. I will just go out on a limb here and say the average American has nowhere near those financial assets, and certainly not the average person sitting in Iowa she’s trying to get to vote for her. And unlike Ashley Hinson, [Iowans] are actually struggling.
- “[Ashley Hinson] is worth almost $8 million dollars if not more right now. I couldn’t imagine that type of money and having a life like that and still trying to tell people that it’s hard for you to put gas in your tank. Like, c’mon. I’m so tired of that.”
- “[She’s] trying to portray a working class individual or trying to cosplay as one by saying it on TV but it doesn’t make it true. That’s the most frustrating part for me. […] All [she’s] been doing this whole time that [she’s] been in Congress and the State House to where [she is] now is been taking money from people to make sure that [she] continues to have money for [her] family and [her] friends while everybody else across the state struggles.”
- The Daily Mail reported on Sunday that Hinson has claimed more than $50,000 of her office’s funds as reimbursements for housing expenses. When she’s in Washington, D.C. she rents a one-bedroom apartment in a luxury building near Capitol Hill.
- The story highlighted that she has been portraying herself as a working mom with two teenage boys, so she understands that prices are too high. “All the while, Hinson has a net worth between $1million and $8 million, she reported on her 2024 financial disclosure form, which was filed in August 2025, and viewed by the Daily Mail.”
- The Daily Mail also reported that Hinson has taken “at least five international trips” paid for by interest groups. Her husband Matthew Arenholz accompanied her on four of the trips (to Israel, eastern Europe, Austria, and Switzerland), with those groups footing the bill. “The five trips, which took place between 2022 and 2025, cost in total $110,622, according to House Disclosure records.”
- Iowa Republican Representative and U.S. Senate Candidate Ashley Hinson has repeatedly said in interviews that she feels the financial pain of Americans in this economy because her family struggles to keep food in the fridge, despite the fact that she is a documented millionaire based on recent financial disclosures.
- Hinson was recently caught lying about selling all her shares in individual company stock when she took office while she advocates for legislation that would ban stock trading for members of Congress. Disclosures revealed that despite her pledge to sell her stock, Hinson’s husband retained between $1 and $5 million in individual stock in his former company.
- Despite this, Hinson recently called herself a “working mom” and said, “I know what is facing our families here in Iowa.”
