Kansas Carpetbagger Zach Lahn Owes Iowans Answers

DES MOINES – Recent reporting has confirmed that career political operative and carpetbagger Zach Lahn splits his time between Iowa and Kansas and would “be in Iowa as much as humanly possible” if elected.

In his first public appearance 10 days after winning the primary, Lahn sat down with KCCI and deflected questions about how many days he would live in Kansas while collecting a taxpayer-funded salary as governor of Iowa, saying “that’s something between my wife and I to figure out.”

Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn owes Iowa taxpayers answers to the following questions:

  1. How many days of your term do you plan to spend in Kansas while collecting a taxpayer-funded salary as governor of Iowa?

  1. How much would your travels back and forth from Kansas cost Iowa taxpayers — including the pilot, state plane, gas, and state trooper security — since you could not use your private plane for those trips as governor?

  1. When will you make your “arrangement” outlining how often you expect to travel to Kansas available to the public?

  1. How do you plan to respond, as governor, if Iowa faces a security or public safety emergency while you are in Kansas?

  1. Why did you choose to run for governor in Iowa and not Kansas?

From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:

“Career political operative and carpetbagger Zach Lahn owes Iowans answers about how much time he would spend in Kansas while collecting a taxpayer salary. By refusing to answer basic questions about where he lives and dismissing those concerns as ‘between him and his wife,’ Lahn is sending a clear message that he’s not up to being a full-time governor.”
