Questions Carpetbagger Zach Lahn Must Answer About Living in Kansas While Running for Iowa Governor

Questions Carpetbagger Zach Lahn Must Answer About Living in Kansas While Running for Iowa Governor

DES MOINES – Recent reporting from the Des Moines Register revealed that Republican gubernatorial candidate and career political operative Zach Lahn “maintains a home in Kansas” and re-registered to vote in Iowa just before the two year minimum residency requirement to run for governor.

Lahn flies to his Kansas home once every six days on average, and has spent more nights in Wichita than on his Iowa farm.

Part-time resident and frequent flyer Lahn owes Iowans answers to the following questions:

  1. How many nights have you spent in Iowa since launching your campaign?

  1. Why should voters trust your “Iowa First” message if you spend more time in Kansas than Iowa?

  1. Do you pay taxes in Iowa or Kansas?

  1. How can you consider yourself “a full-time resident of Iowa” if you spend the majority of your time out of the state?

  1. Why are you asking voters to elect a part-time resident as governor?

  1. You’ve spent your campaign criticizing out-of-state residents who own land in Iowa — how is that different from your Kansas carpetbagging?

  1. Why did you re-register to vote in Iowa right before the two year residency deadline?

  1. Will you release residency documents to prove you don’t live in Kansas?

From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:

“After misleading Iowans since the start of his campaign, career political operative and Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn owes voters answers about why they should ever entrust him with Iowa’s future. Iowans deserve a full-time governor, not a frequent flyer who can’t even commit to living in the state he wants to lead.”
