What Iowans Are Watching: Feenstra, Reynolds Called Out for Health Care Cuts in Des Moines
DES MOINES – On Wednesday, Iowans in Des Moines gathered for the last stop of the Iowa Democratic Party’s “Decade of Denied Care” Tour. Speakers called out Feenstra’s vote to gut Medicaid and put rural hospitals on the chopping block, Kim Reynolds’ mismanagement of Iowa’s privatized Medicaid program, and how health care has suffered under a decade of one-party rule.

KCCI: Iowans speak out against Medicaid cuts in Des Moines

- Some Iowans are pushing for more funding for Medicaid tonight. They gathered outside the Des Moines Public Library to share how cuts to the program are impacting them.
- Nancy Baker Curtis: It’s causing families like ours to live in pain and agony. If these additional cuts go through, Charlie and other families just like ours could lose everything we’ve waited for years to obtain and fought so hard to get.
- [Nancy] was concerned about Medicaid cuts in the federal budget impacting her son, Charlie, who she just referenced. The gathering comes as a Medicaid forecasting group found the state health coverage program is expected to face a $90 million deficit in fiscal year 2026.
