NEW: Iowa Lost 4,400 Jobs in February
The state shed 19,200 in one year
DES MOINES – Iowa is losing jobs.
In February alone, the state lost 4,400 jobs, bringing the total number of jobs lost since February 2025 to 19,200, according to numbers provided by the state.
“Iowa Republicans broke their promises and have failed to grow our economy and make life more affordable for Iowans,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “Instead, they’ve cost Iowans their jobs, grocery and gas prices are higher, and too many folks are having a hard time feeding their families and filling their prescriptions while everyone is struggling to get ahead. It is time for new leadership in Iowa.”
In February, 341 workers at Whirlpool in Amana were notified the factory would be closing in March.
