WQAD: “MercyOne Clinton Medical Center Ending Labor and Delivery Services”

WQAD: “Company Officials Cited Rising Health Care Costs, Staffing Shortages, Issues with Government Funding, and Policy Changes to Medicaid and Medicare as Reasons for the Changes”

DES MOINES – Ashley Hinson, Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Zach Nunn’s vote to make drastic cuts to Medicaid is forcing MercyOne Clinton Medical Center to end labor and deliver services. The new changes mean Iowans in and around Clinton will now have to travel an hour or longer to receive this essential health care.

“Ashley Hinson, Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Zach Nunn’s leadership in DC is making health care more unaffordable and inaccessible for Iowans,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “Their vote to cut Medicaid and refusal to extend the ACA subsidies is continuing to hurt thousands of Iowa families. Iowans are tired of learning another hospital is shuttering or ending services because of our congressional delegation, and they will want new leadership in November.”
