Iowans Rail Against Illegal and Unconstitutional Tariffs

DES MOINES – Iowans are continuing to call out the chaotic tariffs that are raising their prices and destroying their jobs in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision. Now they’re bracing for new tariffs the Administration announced on Friday, which will continue to create economic pain.

Meanwhile, Ashley Hinson, Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Zach Nunn continue to do nothing to stop the damage from tariffs, and are actively supporting and defending them at the expense of Iowans.

Iowans Are Fed Up with Chaotic and Harmful Tariffs:

  • Steve Barry, Cedar Rapids: “U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson is a rubber stamp for Donald Trump. Anything he wants she will give it to him; therefore, she approves of his tariffs. Those tariffs have hurt the farmer.”
  • Berleen Wobeter, Tama County Cattle Rancher: “The ultimate concern here is that we’re losing perspective of the future of our land, our farmers, and our community. This isn’t just about profits. This is about how do our communities exist. Will we have safe food? Are we protecting our soil? We can’t even get down to those questions in this present environment.”
  • Ryan Marquardt, Madison County Cattle Rancher: “The tariffs have really resulted in an increase in input costs and kind of eroded or erased our export markets. They triggered retaliatory tariffs against us. This is very welcome news to be finally turning the page on this, although I have little faith the administration will not look to the other tools that it has to try to extend tariffs.”
