BREAKING: Randy Feenstra Pocketed Thousands From CCP-Owned Companies Buying Up American Farmland
Feenstra claimed blocking Chinese ownership of American farmland is a top issue, but is funded by Chinese agriculture giants
DES MOINES – A new report from Washington Examiner reveals that Randy Feenstra pocketed over $20,000 from Chinese-state owned agricultural companies Syngenta and Smithfield Foods, despite publicly claiming that “opposing the Chinese acquisition of American farmland [is] cornerstone of his congressional career” and “highlight[ing] this position during his ongoing run for Iowa governor.”
As Washington Examiner reports, “between 2020 and 2024, committees belonging to Syngenta and Smithfield Foods wired over $20,000 to Feenstra … Both Syngenta and Smithfield Foods have strong ties to the Chinese Communist Party and collectively control tens of thousands of acres of farmland across the U.S.,” including over 270 acres in Feenstra’s own congressional district.
On one occasion, Feenstra “sponsored an amendment to the Lower Energy Costs Act that would bar ‘China from buying American farmland suitable for ethanol and biodiesel production,’” then “accepted a $5,000 donation from Syngenta’s PAC.” Feenstra later accepted an additional donation from Syngenta then hypocritically “penned an op-ed in a local publication arguing that there is an ‘urgent need to defend our farmland from our foreign adversaries’ in order to ‘keep China at bay.’”
When asked about taking thousands in campaign contributions from Chinese companies buying up American farmland, “Feenstra’s office referred the Washington Examiner to the congressman’s gubernatorial campaign, which did not respond to a request for comment.”
From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:
“Shameless hypocrite Randy Feenstra gladly pocketed thousands from Chinese government companies buying up American farmland and threatening our national security, despite pretending to be concerned about China’s influence. Feenstra has proven he will say one thing and do another if it helps his political ambitions, even when it hurts Iowa farmers and threatens our national security.”
