Prices are on the Rise

Trump’s policies are causing staples like coffee and vegetables to skyrocket, and they’re not slowing down

Des Moines – Inflation, an issue Iowa Republicans promised to fix on day one, is hurting Iowans’ pocketbooks once again.

The prices of nearly everything at the grocery store — coffee, peanut butter, beef, fresh and frozen vegetables, candy, breakfast cereals, chicken, condiments, and more — have all increased.

Iowans didn’t vote to make their lives more expensive. In the words of Republican Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska, Iowa is already in a recession economy.

“This uptick in inflation couldn’t have come at a worse time,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “Iowa has an economy that ranks at the bottom nationwide, a manufacturing industry that’s seeing more layoffs than new plants, and a farming outlook dominated by low commodity prices and changing markets. Iowans need decisive action so they can afford to put food on the table, but Kim Reynolds, Iowa Republicans and Donald Trump are making things worse.”
