ICYMI: Iowa Democrats Introduce Reproductive Freedom Legislation

Iowa Senate Democrats announced a legislative package on Tuesday morning that works to enshrine what the majority of Iowans already believe: that women have the right to choose what they do with their bodies.

• While Democrats are proposing legislation that would amend the state constitution to guarantee reproductive freedom and access to abortion care in Iowa, Republicans are working to ban Mifepristone.

• While Democrats are proposing legislation that provides access to over-the-counter birth control, Republicans continue to double down on Governor Reynolds’ extreme abortion ban.

• While Democrats are proposing legislation that reinstates state support for family planning services, Republicans are trying to add anti-abortion propaganda and misinformation to our schools’ curriculum.

• While Democrats are proposing legislation that expands postpartum coverage under Medicaid to one year for new mothers and children, Republicans are focused on banning life-saving abortion medication from being received by mail.
