Just this morning, instead of taking the time to explain his position to the people of Iowa, Congressman King shouted down questions about his views that have been clearly linked to white supremacy and ordered those asking to be removed from the room.
Any politician dedicated to civility should unequivocally condemn this behavior and make it clear that King’s brand of white supremacy is dangerous and has no place in our country.
Congressmen Blum and Young’s silence would make it clear that they prioritize partisanship over our democracy.
Many prominent Republicans and companies have already taken steps to distance themselves from Congressman King.
The Chair of the NRCC, Congressman Stivers, spoke out on Tuesday calling Congressman King’s behavior “completely inappropriate.”
Congressman Carlos Curbelo said King’s comments and actions are “disgusting” and that he would never vote for someone like King even though they are from the same party.
The Weekly Standard and the Daily Caller have both broken with King. Purina, Land O’Lakes, and Intel have all withdrawn their financial support from the Congressman.
“It’s time for Congressmen Blum and Young to put partisanship aside, grow some spines, and condemn Congressman King for the danger he poses to the unity of our nation,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price.
“It’s not even courageous at this point – it’s just common sense. If Congressmen Blum and Young was actually concerned with serving their districts instead of their own political interests, they would have broken with King a long time ago.”
