Just this morning, Iowa Public Radio ran a story about Governor Reynolds on the campaign trail, including a constituent from Congressman King’s district asking her to fire him.
Gary Seite of Story City came to complain about his Republican congressman, Steve King. “I just talked to Kim Reynolds about Steve King and his racist statements recently,” Seite said. “The Weekly Standard called him the most deplorable congressman.” Seite objects to Reynolds retaining King as one of the co-chairs of the campaign. “I told her to fire him,” Seite said. “She won’t.”
“It was bad enough that Governor Reynolds had the terrible judgement to bring Congressman King on as co-chair for her campaign in the first place. But it’s worse that she kept him on after he publicly supported an anti-Semitic white nationalist candidate in Toronto a couple weeks ago,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price.
“If Governor Reynolds truly served Iowa values, she would have kicked King to the curb a long time ago. She should do right by the people of Iowa and do it now before it’s too late.”
