Press Conference and March to the Polls to Be Held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday in Council Bluffs.
For too long, the Trump Administration, Governor Reynolds, and Iowa Republicans have used rural Iowa as a pawn in their political games. Even with lives and livelihoods are on the line, the Republicans only deliver half-baked solutions when there’s an election on the horizon. Enough is enough.
Rural Iowa’s message to President Trump on Tuesday will be their votes for Democrats, up and down the ticket, who will actually fight for our farm towns and rural communities in all 99 counties.
Under Republican leadership, farm incomes have declined in rural Iowa by more than 50 percent.
By undermining the Renewable Fuels Standard through waivers and exemptions to the oil industry, the Trump Administration has destroyed demand for nearly 2.2 billion gallons of ethanol which roughly equates to a billion bushels of corn.
And last but certainly not least, a reckless and ham-handed Trade War, which will cause Iowa farmers to lose up to $2.2 billion according to a recent Iowa State University Study, has done lasting damage to the international markets Iowa farmers rely on to make ends meet.
Joined by Secretary of Agriculture candidate and 5th generation Iowa farmer Tim Gannon and Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price, Iowans from across Pottawattamie County will gather at 3:00 PM on Tuesday ahead of the President’s visit to give voice to their concerns then do something about them: VOTE.
Members of the press interested in attending should RSVP to Tess Seger at tseger@iowademocrats.org.
