Congressmen Blum, Young, and King Will Have to Answer to Voters for this Disastrous Fiscal Management

Despite Lack of Results, All Three Iowa Congressmen Just Voted to Double Down on Failed Policy.

In a new poll out from Gallup finds that two-thirds of Americans have not seen an increase in their take-home pay since the GOP passed their failed tax giveaway. Worse yet, the majority of Americans say that the cuts have not helped them financially at all and more disapprove than approve of the GOP’s signature fiscal policy.

This is more bad news for Congressmen Blum, Young, and King who have staked their campaigns on this disastrous policy.

Iowa’s Republican Congressmen recently voted to double down on their giveaways that disproportionately benefit the already wealthy and further increase the national debt, undermining our financial stability now and for years to come.

Last week, they were called out for betraying their espoused “fiscally conservative” values. The Des Moines Register wrote in an editorial

“The GOP-controlled Congress has exacerbated this country’s financial problems. The federal deficit nearly doubled in August from a year earlier…

Republicans, including those representing Iowa in Congress, insisted on passing a sweeping tax cut bill that took effect in January. It set the country on course to further starve an already strapped federal government. The cuts are helping push the nation toward unprecedented debt and heightening the risk of another financial crisis…

The hypocrisy of the GOP is on full display. Yet with mid-term elections looming, some of them are still trying to put lipstick on their disastrous tax-cut pig.”

“The GOP’s tax giveaways are an attempt to rig our economy for their corporate special interests at the expense of hardworking families. Despite mountains of evidence that these giveaways do not work, Congressmen Blum, Young, and King chose their partisan alliances over a secure future for our country,” said Iowa Democratic Party Spokesperson Tess Seger.
