Today at her press conference, Governor Kim Reynolds’ defensive and cagey responses left Iowans with more questions than answers regarding her recent abrupt firing of a member of her administration for sexual harassment.

Previously, Reynolds defended Senator Bill Dix’s notorious mishandling of sexual harassment in the Iowa Senate. She also refused to call on Governor Eric Greitens, who headlined a fundraiser for her, to step down, even after he was indicted with a felony related to sexual misconduct. Yet Reynolds’ process on Jamison’s firing has been shrouded in secrecy, without so much as an official complaint against Jamison or any investigation into possible additional wrongdoing, leading Iowans to wonder why her change in tune.

“Governor Reynolds has been slow to act on sexual harassment, so why has she suddenly changed her tune when it comes to former Director Jamison? Iowans deserve to know the full facts around this abuse of public trust in the Iowa Finance Authority, and Governor Kim Reynolds needs to be transparent to ensure such harassment in not allowed to occur in the future,” said Iowa Democratic Party Spokesperson Tess Seger.
