Reminder: Nunn Voted to Ban Abortion, Put IVF at Risk

DES MOINES – Zach Nunn is misleading Iowans on his anti-abortion record but here’s the truth: he voted to ban abortion and put IVF at risk while he served in the state legislature, and he raised his hand in support of banning abortion nationwide with no exceptions.

Let’s be clear, Zach Nunn paved the way for Iowa’s abortion ban. In 2018, Zach Nunn voted for legislation that was the same as the near-total ban that recently went into effect in Iowa.

While serving in the state legislature, Nunn voted to threaten Iowans’ access to abortion, contraception, and IVF and supported a constitutional amendment that would eliminate the right to an abortion in Iowa.

In Congress, he voted to block consideration of a bill that would codify the protections guaranteed by Roe v. Wade, which would have prevented Iowa’s abortion ban from going into effect.

He also voted to punish doctors who perform abortions and block reproductive health care access for members of the armed services.

“Zach Nunn voted against abortion at a state and federal level and no matter how many times he tries to reframe his record he can’t walk away from that fact,” said Paige Godden, spokesperson for the IDP. “The contrast is clear in this election cycle. While Zach Nunn paved the way for Iowa’s extreme and unpopular six-week abortion ban, Lanon Baccam trusts women to make their own health care decisions.”
