Record-breaking voter turnout shows momentum for Iowa Dems

DES MOINES — This weekend, Iowa Democrats are kicking off the general election with a statewide weekend of action to organize around our values, bring new voices into our party, and engage our communities. County parties will host more than 50 events across the state including voter registration phone banks, community cleanup projects, and more. A full list of events can be found here.

“Iowa Democrats are leading with our values,” said IDP Chair Mark Smith. “Donald Trump and the GOP have broken their promises to Iowans and Tuesday’s turnout is just one more proof point that voters aren’t buying their empty rhetoric. Democrats dominated the record-setting Primary Day turnout — earning 52,000 more votes than GOP candidates, including areas that were once considered Republican strongholds. Join us this weekend to keep growing our grassroots ground game to hold the GOP accountable and elect leaders who will put the needs of Iowans first.”
