After Kim Reynolds signed the most extreme abortion ban in the country into law today, Iowa Democratic Party Vice Chair Andrea Phillips released the following statement:
“With a stroke of her pen, Governor Kim Reynolds just gave Iowa the most restrictive law limiting women’s health across the United States. This new law will put lives in danger. It will also potentially cost Iowa taxpayers millions of dollars in legal fees—at a time when our state budget is already in crisis thanks to Governor Reynolds’ mismanagement.
“This new unconstitutional law shows that Reynolds cares more about the extreme political special interests that fund her campaign than about the rights of women in our state. Iowa Democrats will continue to do everything we can to fight this dangerous new law and protect the health of Iowa women and families.”
