In honor of National Voter Registration Day, Iowa Democratic Party Third Vice Chair and Voter Outreach Activist June Owens released the following statement:

There is no act more crucial to the future of our state and our country than that of voting. This year, in particular, it is important that each and every one of us exercise this right.

Today, we at the Iowa Democratic Party would like to remind everyone to register to vote for the upcoming Midterm election. The deadline to pre-register is October 27th, but voters can also register the day of the election at the polls.

We live in times where leaders seek to divide us to maintain their own power, to lead with fear rather than with hope, but that makes it all the more important that we are active participants in our democracy. It is critical that we remember President Obama’s message on political activism, “Don’t boo, vote!”
