Iowa Democratic Party Statement on Lara Trump’s Des Moines Event
Lara Trump’s event offers no answers for President Trump’s broken promises to Iowans
DES MOINES — Iowa Democratic Party Chair Mark Smith released the following statement in response to Lara Trump’s trip to Iowa today:
“The last thing Iowans need is another empty visit from the Trump campaign as our state’s coronavirus cases continue to rise and thousands of working families are falling deeper into economic hardship as a result of the administration’s failures. Trump’s policies and mishandling of the global pandemic have left Iowans behind, but he refuses to come up with any solutions. All the Trump campaign has delivered are broken promises and desperate attempts to ignore the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
“This week, our country passed 200,000 confirmed coronavirus deaths and millions of Americans are still out-of-month six months into this pandemic with no end in sight. Trump is ignoring the health and wellbeing of Iowans for his own political self-interests. He is hurting our economy and Iowans will not stand alongside him in November.”
