Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price released the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate’s vote to approve the USMCA

“A strong agricultural economy, supported by hardworking Iowa farmers, has long been the backbone of our state, and today’s vote ensures that will continue to be the case.” said IDP Chair Troy Price. “I want to take this opportunity to thank Representatives Cindy Axne, Dave Loebsack, and Abby Finkenauer for their tireless dedication to this issue. Thanks to their efforts, the USMCA is not just a good deal for Iowa farmers, but it ensures modern work protections and fair trade practices between our closest neighbors.

“I hope this deal will give Iowans some much needed peace of mind, especially following months of setbacks brought about by this Administration’s reckless foreign and domestic policies. Iowa families are struggling to cope with the disastrous effects of this President’s trade wars, his EPA’s repeated attacks on our state’s ethanol industry, and his disregard for how climate change is sabotaging Iowa farmers. While this deal is no doubt a step in the right direction, Iowans deserve better from Washington Republicans.”
