Iowa Democratic Party Vice Chair June Owens released the following statement on George Floyd:
“George Floyd should still be alive right now. His life was taken in a horrific act of racism that has long-targeted black Americans. This weekend, we stand with the thousands of Iowans across the state who are peacefully using their voice to stand up for justice and against police brutality. And we will keep seeking justice for the families who share the tragic pain and scars that institutional racism brings. Justice is never achieved from the sidelines. It’s on us as a nation to change. We must remember and honor George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery through our voice, our actions, and our vote.”
