Despite Governor Reynolds saying she takes “advantage of any opportunity to discuss trade initiatives with members of the Trump administration,” the White House has repeatedly attacked Iowa interests. Now, Trump’s ill-advised tariffs on China are threatening some of Iowa’s most critical industries:

Infuriated by Donald Trump’s stunt, China is considering a tariff on soybeans. Iowa is the second largest producer of soybeans in the country.

And, yet, Kim Reynolds did nothing.

Iowa leads the nation in ethanol production, and China is going to raise its tariffon ethanol to 45%.

And, yet, Kim Reynolds did nothing.

As the largest producer of pork in the nation, Iowa will get hit the hardest by China’s 25% retaliatory tariff on pork.

And, yet, Kim Reynolds did nothing.

Trump’s Tariffs on China will cripple Iowa’s economy, potentially setting off a new farm crisis with a government ill-prepared to handle struggling families thanks to the Reynolds Budget Crisis.

“Kim Reynolds likes to flaunt her personal relationships with the Trump administration, but when the rubber hits the road, she has done nothing to protect our state from the misguided and destructive policies of the Trump administration,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price.

Either Governor Reynolds is exaggerating her relationships with the White House or she’s not an effective advocate for our state’s economy. Iowa deserves better.”
