Iowa Democratic Party Chair Troy Price released the following statement on the results of the 2018 Democratic Gubernatorial Primary:
“First, we want to say thank you to the candidates, their families, staff, and all the volunteers and activists whose enthusiasm has made 2018 a great year for Democrats. Our Party is proud of your dedication and hard work, and we are so excited to keep fighting alongside each and every one of you to put our state back to work for the people of Iowa.
The turnout numbers from tonight are still coming in, but it’s safe to say, Democrats are fired up and ready to win this November. We’re ready to get out, knock doors, have the conversations we need to have in our communities, and back up our values with action because the stakes could not be higher.
Too many Iowa families are struggling because Kim Reynolds can’t get her priorities straight and refuses to put the people of Iowa ahead of her special interest campaign donors.
That’s why we’re proud to congratulate Fred Hubbell on becoming the official Democratic nominee for Governor. Fred’s record of public service and capable leadership is desperately needed at Terrace Hill, and we stand ready to help him get there this fall.“
