In a ceremony today, while surrounded by Iowa National Guardsmen, Governor Culver issued an official proclamation honoring the sacrifice of Captain Daniel Whitten of Grimes who was killed last month in Afghanistan.

One of Governor Culver’s stops on the Moving Iowa Forward Tour today was Newton. Formerly the home of Maytag, this community was hit hard when the company shut their factory down.
